Little Mosque on the Prairie
Here at The Faith Club, we’re all for open dialogue. Sometimes it takes a sense of humor to cover thorny issues. See how Canada’s television show Little Mosque on the Prairie seems to be doing just that. Could such a sitcom work in America?

Do Canadians have some weird wonderful sense of humor missing south of Toronto? Kids in the Hall was one of my favorites - I’m even embarrassed to say it. I can’t wait for the Comedy Channel or whoever might pick it up to give us “little mosque on the Prairie”. Humor can be demeaning, humiliating, sarcastic - might I point out Ann Coulter. Or it can be the means to see our common human condition. I’ve always figured there must be a vast sense of humor in the universe. Because - we are pretty darn funny when you think about it.

I’ve heard little snippets from the show and an interview with the show’s creator (a Canadian Muslim woman) on NPR. I wish we could see this here in the States but I don’t know if the majority of American TV-viewers are ready for it. I hope I’m underestimating them though and that it will be broadcast here eventually.
